Man declared dangerous offender after paralyzing ex-partner in shooting

How could the jury not punish him for shooting her dog? As if she did not suffer enough, he shot her dog. That is the most heartless thing I can imagine.. They may as well have slapped her face. This country is far too lenient when it comes to punishing crime, that is why we are in the state we are today,,,
