Tiny home housing homeless man in the woods torn down

But it's o.k. for homeless people to erect tents and bring in propane tanks, and any other goods to "live" there? Regardless they too are living on public land wherever they deem fit. I don't see anyone moving those people to other accommodations...perhaps because there are no other options available?

The residents of the City of Guelph have a right to know locations of active termites.

This is supposed to be a budget and not a free-for-all year after year. Where is the accountability of council to adhere to the affordability of taxpayers and reign in costs. Doesn't appear to be any accountability.

Not sure why this average was used "For the average single family residence (valued at $410,000)". How many homes in Guelph are that value? It doesn't say "assessed" value so how many homes in Guelph are valued that low - definitely not an average in Guelph.

Great land for the city to use for tiny homes. Every time land comes up for possible use it's downvoted yet we need land to build affordable homes. Make this a project that's 100% affordable homes. There's a seasonal mobile home park a stone's throw from there. However it's also in an area with high end homes so there will be lots of opposition. These lands are primarily used for people walking their dogs down by the river. Those protesting already have their own homes and Guelph has a shortage of land for affordable housing so I think these lands would fit the bill. Go ahead and downvote but sometimes things need to be said even with expected opposition.

Had someone come to my house yesterday saying they work for the City and need to check my water meter. I told them go ahead as it's outside and out meter reader knows where it is located. I told him but first he must provide me with identification so I could take a picture of him holding it. He told me he didn't approve of my taking his pic and I told him I don't approve of him on my property trying to scam an old lady (my husband was close by in the house). I told him to wait a second and I'll retrieve my phone. He quickly left while I was pretending to retrieve me phone and noticed he was talking on the phone as he was walking (almost running) up the street. My husband was on my case saying I'm overreacting. Good thing I was home or hubby would have let him in for sure - he can't say no and is too trusting so I cringe when he answers our landline phone or the doorbell.

Wasn't this the same building that had affordable units but new owners evicted the residents with new plans in mind? Now we see this same building back on the market through power of sale. If possible would be a good idea to revert back to affordable housing,

The land where the school is located is on the ancestral lands of the Attawandaron (Neutral Nation). How about Attawandaron HIgh School?

Trump had no intention of negotiating any kind of deal with Canada - he doesn't do "deals" that are not highly in his favour..This ad gave him an out to stop the supposed negotiations. Canada is not relying on anyone else to move forward - we need to do that on our own and what's best for Canada. Trump is unpopular everywhere outside of the U.S. so Canada needs to steer clear of US. We can and will change our way of doing business without the U.S. Unfortunately that process will take lots of time and patience and shifting of jobs from one industry to another. I see most people in Canada on board with that plan and doing the little things like not buying US products and avoiding travel to US when possible. That all adds up to Canada becoming independent and owning our destiny. Do not expect things to change overnight - baby steps for sure. Canadians don't give up and sticking together will help us all - we don't need any in-fighting - only by working together will Canada be stronger.

Hourly wage doesn't tell the whole story. Do the math - if they are only scheduled 80 hours/month they are making $41K per year (for those with most experience). Try living in most big cities in Canada with that wage nowadays. If they were actually paid for the hours they work (at least 100 hours/month paid) that would be minimum.

eliminate bike lane concrete barriers only - that way bike lanes can continue to be plowed to the curb

Read the article again - schools are not closed! Buses only are not running. Still lots of learning and no wasted teaching time. Quit complaining. Weather conditions are not something that we can control so always better to be safe especially when transporting children by bus.

You get who you vote for! And, without any new people interested in running, more of the same to come.

Where is Scott Reid in all this? What does he have to say? Would have been nice to get his take about ripping off so many people and leaving people almost destitute who trusted him but I'm sure his lawyer has told him not to comment as the RCMP are/were investigating with forensic accountants trying to follow the money trail. I'd rather get my money back first and then they can put him in the slammer. Perhaps wishful thinking though.

Plural for the word storey are storeys (UK, CAN) and stories (US). Not sure what you're referring to?

Yes US is 20 MPH (which is 32 KPH). Speed cameras are also used significantly in the US especially in school zones BUT tickets are not typically issued unless 10 MPH over with no shortage of tickets being issued for going 10+mph - that speed is 16 KPH over. I would have no problem with issuing tickets for anyone going over 9 KPH. I was issued a ticket for going 12 KPH over in an area that I frequent and I was surprised as I drive through those areas what feels like a crawl with bicycles, escooters and ebikes passing by me regularly. The City should share what speed triggers a ticket as I don't think most people would intentionally drive faster if they know as it feels miniscule. I do notice I keep my eye on my speedometer too much in those zones which is really distracted driving and not safe. I do know how much revenue the City is collecting with the speed cameras and if this continues I would like the city to negotiate a better deal with the vendor given the increase in cameras.

Seems like a good idea to limit social media for the young age group however, social media is a problem for many adults too. Hard for parents to parent social media use of their children when they themselves have a problem. Many adults are on social media too much and then subject to scams, etc. Parents need to adjust their own behaviours first before limiting their children. Nothing can be legislated or forced but reducing social media use would be a good idea for most on our own..

Nice gesture to give back to those in need - great to hear!
