Let's face it, Danielle is a control freak of the highest order. She has to stick her mug into everything then she is surprised and plays dumb when something untoward happens.

From okotoksobserver.caDo You Know How Your Property Tax Increases Are Being Spent?7/5/2025According to information released under 2024 FOIP-02, Okotoks spends around $30 million per year to pay municipal employee salaries:Only half of this goes to core services such as street cleaning, policing, water maintenance, pool maintenance, etc.40% of this expenditure goes towards administrative costs: planners, accountants, administrators, etc.5% goes to the Town’s woke, progressive agenda.I, for one do not want another term with Taxya Thorn.$1.1 million spent on the CP fencing, that no one wanted or asked for.She increased the tier 3 water rate to help pay for the new pipeline even though she claimed, years ago, that it was fully funded. The Ice rink at JPII school was budgeted for $500K but actually came in closer to $1 million.

Strange, I didn't hear anything about public opinion into this. The City of Okotoks seems to have a lot of money to throw at their pet projects without any regard for taxpayers.

Please vote out this insanity in October. They have already ruined the town I have lived in for over 40 years. They just do not care about the residents, only growth, more growth, and more traffic chaos. Traffic chaos caused by poor or non-existent traffic planning. It seems that the more people move here, the higher the taxes are not counting the provincial portion.

For those of you who couldn't be bothered to get out vote in the last civic election, this is all on you. Some of us voted for change.

Provincial tax hike aside, who was responsible for jacking up the Tier 3 water prices and the sewer rate at the same time 'deciding' to cut back on garbage pickup under the guise of saving us money.Tanya is deflecting. She and the sheep we call council, have voted in plenty of other increases to residents all on their own. Nice try.

Hey Tanya, if you can't handle criticism, don't run in the next election. Problem solved.

'Thorn said the tax is driving property tax bills higher and has nothing to do with municipal decisions.'Lets not forget Tanya and crew started with a 4% increase.

Seniors under attack from the UCP. Here is another example of her meanness in actionThousands of Alberta seniors to lose income supplement as province faces rising provincial deficitAdditional cuts mean many Albertans caring for seniors will lose their $1,000 provincial tax credit.Provincial officials did not respond when asked how many seniors will lose provincial benefits, which are worth up to $328 a month. But 194,000 Albertans are in the program now and the province expects to save $23 million by tightening the rules. That means at least 5,800 people will be impacted, assuming the people being cut are receiving the maximum stipend. And in other tax news :Alberta Invests $46 Million to Advance Tailings and Mine Water Technologies Across the Oil Sands

UCP (Danielle) is starting to sound more and more like the Alberta Republican Party.

So the old church, (Rotary Performing Arts Centre) isn't good enough anymore? I guess it isn't new, shiny and expensive enough for the Okotoks city brass.

Just wait until they see the taxes we have to pay.

I guess that's why the property taxes were bumped up. Not to hire another person, but to give themselves a nice 11% to 13% raise. That seems way above the inflation rate. No feedback from the taxpayers on these issues either.. Must be nice to be queen.

Thanks for nothing Danielle. You promised an income tax break but that does not help pensioners. All they every get from you is MORE TAXES. But, but, Alberta does not have a sales tax, The Alberta Advantage, blah, blah, blah. Bring on an election. But you fixed that already didn't you with the banning of electronic vote counting. A Sneaky MAGA is all you really are.

Some drivers are not fazed by fines. Time to start seizing and impounding vehicles from these excessive speeders. This should also be a mandatory court appearance. (if not already).

The twisted and tangled Alberta flag in the photo is a good metaphor for the UCPs under Danielle.

Okotoks top brass asserting their authority over nothing. Justifying their bloated salaries, I guess.

Why charge the tax at all then if you claim to 'get it all back'. How many bureaucrats does it take to administer this tax? How much of that bureaucrat expense do you get back? How about the carbon tax that truckers have to pay to bring goods and services to you? Do you get that back or does it just add to cost of everything. Ask yourself this, is the climate any greener because of this tax? The storms are still there as are the fires and hurricanes and getting worse they say. Taxing people does nothing for the environment. It is simply a 'sin' tax like booze and cigarettes now.. Why is it ok to charge people a tax to heat their homes? Has any of this Carbon Tax revenue done anything for so-called climate change? What do they do with the money is the question you should be asking. Don't forget the GST on top of the Carbon 'levy. (They call it a levy so they can add GST tax to this tax) Besides, they are bribing you with your own money. (again)

Maybe start doing like BC and impound the vehicle for 30 days. Fines don't mean anything for some.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, July 14 (to face yet another bail hearing?) The last 3 were so successful in protecting the public. 32 charges and free to roam around. Why not make it 50?
