Ford is dreaming in technicolor. Boston took 10 years longer than planned, billions more than budgeted, and it only went 2 km’s. If a tunneling were to be done then how about trying out a tunnel under the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto for an experiment? He really does think all of us are brainless.
There he goes again. He has ruined the lakefront with our money so that his developer buddies can cash in. He took out the Science Center under dubious reasoning and made a deal with a foreign company to put a spa in Ontario Place. Seriously?? That is not “for the People” as Ford claims. Nobody benefits but the developers.
Reader Joe’s comments are great. CYYB is a national asset that we should nurture at every opportunity. Having a 10 thousand foot runway is something only a few places in Canada has. Getting a freight hub would be a invaluable resource for North Bay.
Bringing in scab labour is the end of labour relations with that management. To do this to your employees displays what kind of employer you are really looking at. Low wages compared to others, and an apparent willingness not to bargain in good faith. I sincerely hope the company has a good health and safety program that is enforced. This is a serious business. The tough guy approach to bargaining died a long time ago.
Beware of Musk. He controls a lot of information, X, Starlink, Tesla. If he chooses, he can deny service, (almost did), to the Ukraine or anybody else he doesn’t think aligns with his politics.
What, may you ask, will be done about Ford’s greasy ways? Absolutely nothing. That guy is out of control and typically, he could care less. It’s all about the money folks.
The only answer is the breathalyzer interlock on vehicles. This is not exotic technology. Air bags are more complicated. If it were to add $100.00 to the price of a car, so be it. We didn’t have a choice with seat belts or air bags. MADD doesn’t respond to this idea. They are the ones that should be advocating for this idea. Too many lives have been shattered because of impaired drivers.
It would be interesting to know what the statistics are on fires at these facilities. Like it or not, Lithium Ion batteries use is only going to grow. That means proper fire containment, and the ongoing associated costs with that growth, need to be spelled out.
My great uncle served in NWMP for about 3 years, but there was never any involvement by the RCMP in tending to his gravesite in St. James cemetery in Toronto. It’s interesting that he lived in Port Hope prior to his joining the NWMP. He then went on to South Africa to fight in the Boer conflict. Afterwards it was off to France serving alongside John McRea. His final job was the warden at the Guelph Reformatory between the two wars. As it was pointed out, this was a big adventure to these young men.
I would like to know what part of Ontario’s building code is preventing the construction of affordable, (under $400 thousand?), housing? What happened to low rise apartments? Like the ‘monopoly’ homes built after WWII, they were the norm. Are developers being encouraged to go down that road? Instead of dreaming of tunnels under the 401, we need SMART thinking in coming up with a solution, instead of political pandering.
What a joke! Ontario is so far behind the 8 ball on this file. We’re closing the gate after the livestock have run free. Where are the boat washing stations in this province? Where is the enforcement in this province? Are you a boater? Do you drain, wash and dry your craft (power boat, canoe, kayak, sailboat, float planes, etc) before you drop it into a different water body? Do we even regulate boat launches? A lousy $13 million- chump change.
“The release says the Board is looking for "interim leadership" that can be trained by Gowda as it looks for a permanent replacement.“ Seriously?? All she is going to do is infect the replacement. The board should wake up and do their jobs properly, or find another line of work.
Speed bumps. Not the little ones. One that would do damage to the vehicle if the vehicle went any faster than a crawl. They are in place in a lot of communities, (and countries), and do the job. No cameras, no fines to process. Plows get signage so they don’t break the equipment.
