VIDEO: Spend your winters down south? Prepare to be fingerprinted at the border

Not all snowbirds go to the States. I have been a "snowbird" for 15 years and was never interested in spending winter months in the States. I prefer the Carribbean and probably always will!

As Doug Ford says: go to the animal hospital. And hey! Get a beer for a buck! Speaks volumes! Indicative of his level of intellect or lack thereof! Think before you vote.

Fantastic!!! Bravo! My comments posted in previous article:There are over 10,000 Franco-Ontarians in North Bay alone — a fact supported by census data and evident in the number of French-language schools throughout the city. This is not new; the francophone presence has been significant for decades.French and English are the official languages of Canada. Flying the Franco-Ontarian flag is not a courtesy — it is a minimal and necessary acknowledgment of this reality. The City must go further by prioritizing the expansion of services in French. Anything less falls short of its obligations to a large and longstanding part of its population.

According to the report, Ontario patients waiting for hospital admission spent up to 44 hours in emergency departments in 2024/25, and wait times at North Bay’s hospital increased even faster than the provincial average. The report, called Failure, By Design: Ontario’s Deepening Hospital Funding Crisis, was prepared by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and discussed publicly in North Bay this week. It links longer ER waits to hospital funding pressures, staffing shortages, and increasing patient demand. Recent community discussions from North Bay residents also describe overnight ER waits commonly reaching 10–14 hours for non-life-threatening issues. Vic Fideli and Doug Ford, how long do you have to wait? You do have money to waste on a private jet. Forget the "buck a beer" and photo-ops and start making a difference for the people you are representing.

Doug Ford has no authority re. Border. It is a federal issue - NOT provincial!

He should be held criminally accountable, as any other employee would be, and should resign without delay. A suspension of pay is wholly insufficient. Taxpayers have already borne the cost of his dishonesty and will now bear the expense of the Integrity Commissioner’s investigation. His conduct has consistently served his own interests rather than the public’s — a truly reprehensible breach of trust.

Seems our Mayor and Council aren’t exactly setting the bar high either. Care to weigh in, Mr. Fedeli, or does accountability stop there too?

The City of North Bay's Procedural By-Law with respect to public presentations has been amended numerous times to better serve City Councillors and Mayor. It can be easily amended to reflect the wishes of the constituents who elected Councillors to represent the people and not their own pecuniary interests. The City of North Bay was declared No. 1 re. Non-transparency. This is another blatant example of the quality of their "operations".

The total contract price for building, financing and maintaining the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) was approximately CAD $551 million in today’s dollars, for a 30-year contract. Mr. Fideli is worried about AC flights to Toronto and back? How about concentrating on the Health Care system and lack of physicians. I was born and raised in North Bay and have been without a family physician for 9 years now.

It goes like this ... Executives resigning or relocating before a company/city collapses.Executives distancing themselves from a scandal-plagued leader.

Why are the taxpayers having to fund what was caused by National Defence many years ago and without communication to tax payers! It should be funded entirely by the Federal government!

What do you have to say about the people on Larocque Road paying same level of municipal taxes as residents on airport hill? Check municipal services they get versus airport hill but yet pay the same amount. Get the facts.

To City Council: what about the City's of North Bay quality of water??? Water quality is of fundamental importance because it directly influences public health, environmental integrity, agricultural productivity, and economic stability. High-quality water reduces the risk of waterborne diseases, supports the functioning of healthy ecosystems, and ensures the safe production of food. It also underpins industrial processes and lowers the financial burden associated with water treatment and healthcare. Overall, maintaining good water quality is essential for sustainable development and the well-being of societies. Time to address this before increasing the costs!

The success is not the result of religious affiliation or Catholic values, but of strong leadership, high academic standards, and a deliberate focus on creating safe, caring, and supportive learning environments.

The City should consider the installation of basic lighting posts along Cedar Heights. Although this initiative may require allocation from a different budget line, the demonstrated need and safety benefits for city bus users, students, staff, and residents justify this investment.
