The problem is that it cost too much for the tax payer to fund government home employment with each government employee home office equipped with electronic devises and services, year to year ("As of 2024 , 367,772 people were working for the federal public service in Canada.).If they want to work from home, they should consider themselves self employed and pay for their office essentials themselves and then write them off (as per Sq.. ft. they use in their homes for office space), of their income at the end of the tax year.I understand that it's a sweet gig at home, but in todays economy, food prices alone will send a family of four to the food bank.
Not only did the Mayor and Council diminish the reputation of the City of North Bay, they also diminished the authenticity of the criminal system, the municipal political system, the police services of two different authorities (NBPS and OPP).Thank you Mr. Lowery and BAYTODAY.ca for stepping in and for helping the citizens of North Bay through this pathetic display of democratic disfunction on all fronts. Why was one person allowed to take up so much resources and time and expense, both monetary and reputational, when he should have been arrested, charged with theft over $5,000.00, and removed from office in the first place?Resign Chirico!
Baytoday.ca can we have an up-date on what productivity Mr. Fedeli is bringing to the Canadian people on behalf of the Ontario taxpayers with regards to global manufacturing please?I understand that he is the Minister responsible and has been traveling the globe according to Mr. Ford.I haven't heard of any success yet?Thank you Mr. Carney for trying to equalize the cost of living/inflation with more affordable car options for Canadian consumers at this time of economic rebuilding due to job losses in Ontario.
Lana the people who elected you and the citizens of North Bay would appreciate a comment on our investment. You represent the people of North Bay,You are our voice. Are you suggesting that we have no voice?
"The shuttered programs include food and nutrition management, event planning, and hotel operations management." Leave this type of training to the employer. In this world economy, I would rather subsidize an education system that provides a higher paying, permanent skilled workforce; and the greater social and economic dividends that come with higher wages, and the housing stability that provides; then an education system based around lesser pay, non-permanent residence and the municipal planning and housing and food instability that this ensures. Also colleges and universities are not surrogate parents. They are places to attend higher education. Maybe it's time to bring back grade 13?
"Nicole Peltier fears that she may have been targeted for her political views and FOI requests"Nicole is #1.Her courage, her moral fortitude, her quest to do the right thing for the betterment of our community. Her Bravery must be rewarded.Truth must prevail!
We have to look at the integrity commissioner policy in Ontario. It seems to be aiding in the removal of moral integrity; And replacing it with undemocratic and lawless integrity.Doug ford please remove the "integrity commissioner" policy from Ontario municipalities.Otherwise it seems to be mob style governance, where the local politicians are not legally or morally held "accountable".Fix the wrong please.
"Ford has frequently made headlines throughout his career and mostly famously did so in 2013 when an investigation by the Canadian newspaper Globe and Mail unearthed the Ford family's connection to drug trafficking."With the rise in criminality, I have deep concerns for this ring of fire road and access to native communities that are already littered with predatorial drug dealers. That is not a part of the reconciliation process, to disable them again, like we see and pay for here on the streets everyday. We used to be relatively crime free in North Bay and there was no homeless industry like under the direction of this person. and his party.Hope the person recovers. OPP investigation? Sure.Do an extra act of kindness today!
Boots on the ground,.. at Cassellholme for the aged, town hall meeting?Since when is the OPP the investigator and over the top protector of an alleged thief in Ontario?OPP? We want answers and charges laid for theft over $5,000.00; not protection for alleged criminals.Instead you intimidate senior citizens and elected officials? And for who?
Father Glen the rules made by big al about public speaking at council meetings has to be rescinded and returned to the process of democratic input by the public in our own public forum at City Hall. Time to clean the lavatory. Also a formal oath of office needs to be reinstated instead of being referred to Doug's Topo Gigio's.
Regular people pay a pretty high price to buy property.Yet Chirico has taken over public property (is this property under the stewardship of the Conservation Athority?) for his own personal use by installing a drive way there, blocking public entry by making it look private. Can anyone use "his/ but really our" driveway now? Can we park a car there with a large "Resign Chirico" sign? Can we make a nature trail up the escarpment? Because we/he have a parking space for it now.Is this legal/, to day camp on we/he property? Or are we/he not following the rule of law anymore? Lana Mitchell, shhhhhh,,... no comment.
Maybe you could take a ride around the corner and greet the people at the tent city, ask them what they need. Then go to Sudbury, tour the north and talk to all of the homeless people living in the freezing cold?Love the hospital staff, however people are in the deep freeze, a problem that was downloaded to the small population of tax payers who cannot carry them, so there they are, many from out of town. We care here, not only at the hospital, where many of the homeless in the freezing cold need to be.Special thanks to Mike Harris for closing the hospital that employed a fantastic workforce to care for the mentally ill during his tenue as premier.Merry Christmas Ms. Stiles, and the remaining hospital staff.
"Draft budget proposes $22.5-million upgrades to North Bay waterfront"I'm done with this norad city of santa claus watchers and honorary colonels. Why can't we just maintain what we have, considering democracy is at risk, no help from chirico and his council of followers who appear to be in an alternative reality.Food prices? How inconsiderate.
JaquesCousteau take a dive in and look a little closer at the numbers. There is a reason why companies consolidate. There is a reason why people consolidate their finances, because it saves them money.Consolidation: "the action or process of making something stronger or more solid:"Do you want a solid government work force or do you want a either here or there flimsy and permeable (bad actors intervention) government work force.National security is a risk with a unsupervised (visual reality) government work forceIt is time to tighten the mass and sail this ship through the straight and narrow of fiscal responsibility and national security. Some people do not care about other people, the families with kids on the other end of the pay scale. We have to streamline government, corporate and educational efforts to include the welfare of every Canadian.I AM NOT ANTI UNION, however union demands are often the stopper to flexibility and growth for all, truth be known.
Life in North Bay is a bowl of chirocos. It's all tom foolery. Is the premier still chasing down shop lifters (he was so mad about it yet mayor are allowed to steal and break municipal protocol, crickets, vic?)
In North Bay, with a homeless shelter for mentally troubled and addicted people, a location where students are learning in an unhealthy environment, who every day may be approached by desperate people selling hard drug to support their own habit,... may need police protection. However they could learn in a healthy environment without police protection if our politicians supported that effort; and not the effort of helping their wealthy friends obtain public funding to enhance their properties,..... that will probably be sold (for private dwellings) when all of the funding available to these "friends" has been exhausted (as the current provincial trend of funding wealthy "friends" suggests). The greatest "return on the investment" in our case goes to the wealthy property owner of the leased homeless shelter, and the homeless industry (that will be privatized, like the senior care?) after the homeless industry has been established.
Basically we all make choice in our lives, work and where you live? The current analogy is the government is trying to sail our ship through the straight and narrow, however the ship is fragmented in hundreds of thousands of pieces of wood floating in the water.Covid is over, we have get it together for the passengers on board.
Good point rwrh.In successful business it is common practice to use revenue to reinvest into the business.Maybe the all of the revenue from the Water Front should be reinvested into the Water Front and Marina exclusively.Who knows were the casino money goes. Over $500,000,000.00 went through the rinse cycle since 2022 (three years) in North Bay alone? At that rate the tax rate in Ontario should be very minimal Vic, so where exactly is this casino revenue being used "helping to deliver vital services and helping to enhance the quality of life of local residents."Who are the chosen "local residents" that benefit from this exorbitant wealth?Where is the accountability?
