Employees at that site will reside in that district to access work and all the amenities that the Southwest offers. LondonFreePress 22Ferreira said allowing them to move will hurt downtowns recovery?? Recovery?? Pray tell when that is going to happen ? As I have stated before , a forward thinking City will recognize the winds of change. The tenant has expressed their reason to move. Move to a suburban environment where parking is abundant, great neighbourhoods and schools are available for the employees children .
I appreciate that Cities used to have had a bustling and vibrant downtown . With record setting vacancy rate of office space available in the core, the City should focus on attracting other outside business to relocate . Relying on Carfax to be the catalyst of regrowth in the core is the reason we are in the situation we are. Approve the Westmount site. It will eventually fill. In the mean time, I would suggest you focus on dealing with the very reason that Londoner's don't want to go to the core.
