VIDEO: Spend your winters down south? Prepare to be fingerprinted at the border

I have crossed the border multiple times since the new rules came into effect. Not once were we treated any differently than before the changes. In fact, I'm in the US right now.

Enjoy your trip. We returned today and had a great time.

A tool used by petty neighbour's to cause trouble. My small court has 2 such neighbour's who use any excuse to harrass the rest of the court. This exact municiciple code was used last summer. A number of residents got together and helped our neighbour who was going through a difftime. We didn't think the yard looked that bad. On top of using the city, they call animal control and the police. Such a waste of resources and there's nothing we can do about it.

My husband and I crossed the border in Windsor on April 12th. We were nervous about crossing because of the media reports. We were surprised to see how busy the border was since so many people are boycotting the US. The car ahead of us had a Michigan plate. The border guard spoke to him for about 5 minutes and then checked his trunk. He was sent to the side for a secondary inspection. We pulled up and he asked us a total of 2 questions. They were - where are you going and do you have anything to declare? We spent more time talking about the crazy weather we've been having before he sent us on our way.

Absolutely, wouldn't be nice if we could all decide our own timelines at work.

Trust me, if you lived next door to these people, you wouldn't give me a thumbs down. It has been awful over the years but they tend to pick on new owners or vulnerable people using your tax dollars to do it.

I don't think it's who we vote in, I think the staff run the city and they're not doing a very good job. Nothing ever changes.

Thank you Kweech, so well said. I agree 100%. My mother lived in Barrie on Edgehill Dr. I never had a problem getting to her house and I had a hill up to drive to get there. Why is a city like Barrie better at clearing snow?

I 100% agree with you Anne, that is exactly the problem in Orillia. I don't know how many times I've driven from home to work and every light was red! I don't run red lights but I sure get frustrated.

The roads in Orillia have been bad for years. It's not a new thing.

Yes!!!! You are so right ElizabethMK.

Typical city snowplowing. I live on a small court and every street around us in the entire subdivision was plowed. The plows filled in the mouth of our street causing a few people to get stuck in the large amount of snow that filled in the end of the court. It would have taken two miutes to come down our court but no, that would make sense. Thanks for nothing!

On our street, those on the sidewalk side clear the sidewalks while they're out. We've learned that we can't count on the city to clean the roads or sidewalks.

Election year doesn't matter. I used to think the way you do but nothing changes. The city staff run the city.

Wondering Why? I'm wondering how you can possibly make assumptions like that. It's possible for many people to decorate and donate to the community. I for one, love the lights and donate to local charities.

Kids, how can you say the roads were worse 10 years ago. They are the same, nothing has changed. I had to run over a snowbank at the end of my road, my son was stuck trying to get onto Park St. I passed another car that was stuck on a different road trying to get onto Park St. A woman was stuck trying to get onto my court because of the snow the plow left. That was in a 20 minute period in a small part of the city.
My small court wasn't plowed until sometime overnight last night! Every street in our subdivision was plowed yesterday except ours. They only managed to make it worse by filling in the end of the street causing people to get stuck. I don't understand why they can't just come down our court when they're going by. It takes 2 minutes to do our street. Maybe that makes too much sense for Orillia. The tracker still shows our street as unplowed so I don't trust the tracker either.
