Violence against teachers, staff the ‘new normal’ in classrooms across Ontario

This + overall parental negligence. A kid won't know or won't care that certain behaviour is inappropriate if they never have rules enforced by their parents.

This is irrelevant when the drivers arent paying attention and are being reckless. You can follow every rule as a pedestrian- spoken and unspoken- and still be nearly hit by somebody going too fast. I'll give you an example based on my own experience. I was crossing at the lights on the corner of Worthington and Fisher, going down towards the library. I stood there and waited for the walk sign, checked to make sure people were stopped before beginning to cross, but a truck came flying up Worthington behind me and started to turn just as I had started crossing, they were 3ft away from hitting me. This truck was nowhere near the intersection when my light turned green, no pedestrian can save themselves from that even with all of the advice in the world. The driver sped down Fisher after I was out of their way. Those kinds of people are who we need the cameras for. That is a behaviour you can warn kids about, but it's impossible to teach them to avoid it because its always unexpected

@Ida we actually didn't really vote for this. Very roughly, only about 20% of Ontarians voted for Doug

Montec: I'm not defending the spending because we both know there are countless alternatives, but he probably flies a lot and it results in him needing to take his meals in the air. Just a point for perspective's sake

I strongly urge everyone to go watch the video themselves, and then come back here and realize that the man at the head of our province is indirectly telling officers (people who are supposed to uphold and follow the law) that it's okay to break it if it conveniences them, and then flaunt their position as an excuse to do it. The problem with that is that him and the officers know they can get away with it.Just wanted to put this into a perspective I know some won't think about

What's Alberta got to do with it? Lol

Let us all remember this disgusting secrecy when elections roll around. Any government that takes action to hide what they've done does not deserve to serve the people.

You were fed propaganda, Irene. Nowhere in any school in any location are students being taught how to become an animal. And if you think age appropriate discussions about gender identity is a bad thing, then you're just behind on the times.Adding something like that to a curriculum will not take away from core subjects. It would most likely fall under an "elective" style of class like art, music, or PE and therefor alternate with the other electives in a schedule that focuses on the core classes. If you don't understand why gender identity might be a good thing to talk about, you should do some research and discover that transgender students are at an increased risk of suicide. It only takes one adult who accepts the trans student to significantly lower the risk of attempting suicide, imagine how much it can be lowered if there's an entire community and safe space for them in their daily life.

Even if it's us the taxpayers, I don't mind paying as long as those 3 lose the case. It's a necessary sacrifice to remind them that they serve us, and show them that they can't continue to get away with abusing their power

Is he purposely trying to dig a deeper hole for himself? With all the horrible decisions he's made recently, and then this comes out? What a disgrace to our province

People have been saying the location was bad before they even built it, including the students who were attending Chippewa during that time. I was one of them and saw the beginning of the mess 4 years ago, thankfully I graduated before they needed the fence. This has been a consistent complaint and our local government insisted the shelter wouldn't be a problem, and now here it is, a problem

I strongly urge everyone to not get stuck in the mindset of a 2 party system. You CAN and SHOULD vote for the other parties if the big 2 aren't your style. Thinking the big 2 are your only options is exactly how we get stuck in that pit.

Could say the same about Doug, Blair.

Everyone who has commented so far has forgotten that these results are based only on who voted. There are no assumptions, it's based only on the gathered data, and it's not about "labelling people". These are simply fun to look at and I have extreme doubts it's being used for anything deeper than the surface level we see here. More often than not, it's okay to take a deep breath and just enjoy things for what they are. You don't like polls? That's okay, nobody is forcing you to click on them, you have the choice to scroll past and look at the news instead.

Forcing the use of "approved learning resources" feels like a very slippery slope into a whole mess of problems. As one of the students who walked out in protest when Doug tried to revert our sex ed program to an outdated one years ago, I have absolutely zero trust in this man's ability to handle our education.

I'd love to know how the entire conversation went, hard to base an opinion on just a single statement from it. If I were to take I guess, he probably went too far defending his stance and the combination of things said is what led to the ban, not just what we see here.

There's a lot of mixed information online regarding dandelions and our native bees. Some say they're actually harmful, many others say they're extremely important.I say do your own research and do what works best for you. I'm personally of the belief that the first month of dandelions is extremely important due to not too many flowers blooming at this time of the year, especially within a city since many people love a short lawn and not everyone has the time or ability to maintain a garden

James did you even read the article? This isn't about them being soft, they literally do not even have a future to look forward to. This is called "existential dread" and it is stemming from the absolute mess the world is in. Everything is falling apart. It's actually unrealistic to dream about owning a home by yourself, you can't afford rent without 1-2 roommates or 2-3 jobs, the entire world is basically split down the middle politically (to an extreme, not a reasonable amount). These kids are seeing the real world as it is and are worried about the future they may or may not be able to have, that is not a result of "everything has to be given to them"
